Cali Pesto, Ducks, Fencing, and Roses

Avocado Pesto Pasta from Chloe's Kitchen
Since Rob is in California this week, I thought this west coast take on pesto would be fitting. I only changed a couple things - I used walnuts instead of pine nuts and used 1/4 cup olive oil and 1/4 cup water for the 1/2 cup olive oil. The basil was from our garden. I topped it with vegan parm (something we don't use often, but goes perfect with this dish) and served it over whole wheat pasta. This was lunch today with nectarines. Things are super busy. On top of friends coming over and our porch being worked on, I had five cats and three dogs to take care of and Rob's out of town. I see a lot of pasta in our lives this week and I'm so glad Chloe's Kitchen will provide us with lots of new yummy ways to eat it!

The other day this family of ducks walked down one sidewalk on the park side of our house and then turned down the next sidewalk on the busy street side. Josie and I followed from a respectable distance and they made a little home in a neighbor's backyard (they have a little above ground pool). I hope the duck family is okay.
Parker tried his hand at fencing this summer during a four day "fencing camp". He loved it and we might have to make it a regular part of our schedule.
We had a lovely time this weekend at a the house of Rob's former co-worker, Rajneesh. He doesn't have any kids, but he's super kid-friendly. Sadly, he is moving the west coast because the kids didn't want to leave. Josie was even more smitten when he handed her red roses as we walked out the door.

Cynthia, Thanks! I have to admit the first time I saw Parker in his fencing clothes (the last day of camp) I was ready to sign him up for the year. He looks so handsome and grown up!

GFHT, Thanks! You could totally make the pasta with gluten free noodles or it would be fave on raw zucchini spirals.
