My Future Spice Rack?

If you have been paying attention, we are in the middle of dealing with our kitchen and we've had more than our share of spice issues. I was surfin' the vegan blogs today and found a possible spice rack for our future kitchen. I still love the great drawer o' spices, but this wall mounted spice area looks darn interesting.

ok, I never post comments on blogs but I need to here because I am very concerned for you about the size of these spice containers...they can't be that big! Think of all the cumin and and coriander and cinnamon you must go through (just to name a few)I know I would still need a spice drawer on top of it, AND you'll have to keep refilling those little containers- that would be a problem for me. I still love the drawer. :)

I just wanted to drop you a link to instructions for making a spice rack somewhat similar to the one you've linked to: here ya go

Sarah, Excellent point. I go through more chili powder than it looks like the containers would hold on the Snobby Joes alone. Darn!

You should definitely comment more often!

Mel, Thanks for the link!

And I'm concerned about spillage. They would have to have tight lids!

Hey there - have you considered a SpiceStack? I think it seems like a lot less work than a DIY spice rack. Check it out at www.SpiceStack.com and Happy Organizing!

We used 8 oz square containers, and I didn't have any problems with them not being big enough. The only times when I didn't have enough space is when I had duplicate jars of the same spice hanging around.

Also, the lids are pretty secure - I've knocked the tins off the spice rack and they stayed close, and you can find tins with screw top lids.
